wander is one of two last remaining living members of the white-eyed tribe, the other being their estranged pirate father. wander doesn’t know anything about her heritage until she reunites with him during the two years the straw hats are apart.the white-eyed tribe are an ancient race of humans who are characterized by, of course, white or silver eyes, brown skin and some or complete white hair. they have become practically extinct due to the secret but persistent workings of the world government, due of the role their people played during the void century. also, because of this, all research and knowledge on them has been purposefully, and deliberately hidden or obscured.

during the time of the great kingdom, at the start of the void century the first one eyed king was born within the tribe.singlehandedly he took the world by storm with his ideals and strength and prowess, the embodiment of the goddess itani the tribe they worshipped. he even had the one white eye to match.he allied with joyboy, who went on to become the first ever pirate, and the one eyed king was one of his nakama, one of his greatest companions, and bestest friends.their prophecized relationship is one of the key things that will bring the truth of the void century to light.and their connection & partnership is crucial in making way for a new free-er world.

she helps him take the time to appreciate the little, small magics of the world. and, he shows her the grand adventures that lie ahead. he’s her courage and there’s no one wander admires more. his innate kindness and the lengths he’d go to protect his friends and loved ones makes her look at him like he hangs the moon in the sky.

their relationship works so well because neither of them expect the other to change, they meet each other where they are. and, love each other more for it. they both value their freedom, and their autonomy, and their non-traditional romance further puts that into context.
luffy was drawn to wander’s whimsy from day one, immediately spotting a kindred spirit in her. they laugh lots, eat good food and explore all the time. they understand each other intrinsically, non-verbal communication just comes naturally. in luffy, wander sees a life that encapsulates everything she’s ever dreamed of, and more so the courage and drive it takes to fight for it.

reluctant stern older brother figure, mutual respect. though they're very different, wander looks up to him. he often gets frustrated with her for not taking things seriously, but he'll always trust her to act and protect their friends when it matters most.

like sisters. wander is always getting on her nerves. but, nami loves her anyways. somehow, though, wander's presence is often calming for nami when she's stressed or needs a break from the chaos.

brothers from another mother. they have a lot of fun together. telling stupid jokes, encouraging each other's creativity and nonsense. wander is always his #1 defender. she will always pick him up when he's down.

wander pays his chivalry no mind. he thinks he's cool, and admires how he takes care of everyone, and his kindness. when he dials back on the flirtation the two become something like confidants. they have an unspoken understanding of each other, hanging out without either saying much.

that's wander's little brother for real! together their combined whimsy is unmatched. he loves to tease him to death, but genuinely thinks he's the coolest. chopper wishes wander would take care of himself more.

they get each other fundamentally. they both love history and learning, introspection and the oddities of the world. the two enjoy sharing solitude, and are more than happy to hang out , parallel play style.
wander and robin's bond is quiet, but deep.

franky is wander's number #1 hypeman. and vice versa, the two both relate and bond over their mutual understanding and respect on how SUPERRR it is to be yourself, to be different, and to be a lil freak! she thinks he's the coolest, and is fascinated by his genius. bros in eccentricity!

brook is quietly protective of wander’s open, kind nature, appreciating her ability to find beauty and meaning even in the smallest or weirdest of things. him included. the two have a lot of fun, oscillating between silly and profound conversations. wander often hangs out with him, doing her own thing, a quiet gesture to remind him he's not alone anymore.

jimbei recognizes wander's quiet wisdom past her carefree exterior. he knows there's a lot more under the surface. him and wander often have long talks, both learning a lot about each other. wander thinks he's the coolest, and feels indebted to him for taking care of luffy when they couldn't.

wander left his home island at the age of fifteen, determined to find himself and escape from the gloom, and the tragedy that seemed to linger at home. she set sail solo with her only friend, and strongest confidant, her cat, mischief.he was very optimistic, an idealist by nature, beginning this journey was her taking back hope. dreaming that better was out there for them, that there was good to be found in the world, was an act of defiance.their journeys traveling the east blue alone were hard, it was scary and lonely more than it was fun. initially survival was a struggle, she experienced her first real fights. wandering from island to island, growing lonelier and lonelier.
but, wander stuck it out. and, as the time passed things got easier, he met many people, good and bad. kind and dangerous. trustworthy and wicked. he settled into a routine, grew thicker skin and was able to take care of himself. she filled her days with trinket hunting, enjoying nature, leaning into the whimsy in her heart. she fully embraced the unstructured life of sailing solo. but, deep down things were weighing on her, she was getting tired.two years of sailing later, she came across monkey d. luffy in a town called symphony when the crew had stopped at karasu island for supplies. the straw hat crew had been small then, just luffy, zoro and nami. luffy had gotten separated from the other two at the port. so decided to explore on his own, probably looking for something to eat. he found wander, and the two clicked almost immediately. after a day of getting himself involved in wander’s whimsical shenanigans he asked them to join his crew, and on a whim he said sure!after meeting luffy, for the first time in a while wander realized he hadn't been wrong to hold onto hope.
